FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS on DISC
DISC finds its origin in Dr. William Marston research in Psychology, who's work later developed into the invention of the polygraph test (initially called the systolic blood pressure test). Marston observed that the general population was divided up into 4 types of people: Initially divided up into outgoing and reserved personality types and subdivided into task-driven and people-driven personality traits. DISC is the acronym for its 4 components: Dominance - Influential - Steady - Compliant. The disc assessment identifies the intensity of each component in each person’s behavioural style.
DISC assessments are extensively researched and time-tested, and therefore are accepted reliable and trusted tools around the world. It is a research-validated learning model used worldwide in thousands of organizations of all sizes, including Fortune 500 and blue chip companies.
Who is DISC for?
DISC is for people who have a desire to work together in harmony in spite of their personal differences: it helps anticipate conflicts and reduces misunderstanding. It is a powerful tool for personal development as it helps each person assessed to better understand the challenges they may encounter in they daily interactions, whether it at home or at work. The DISC tool is specifically designed to provide useful insights into a person’s behaviour and character, without bringing any judgement.
The value of DISC resides essentially in understanding how each profile, and its variances, interacts with others of different characteristics. Even though DISC originates from a complex scientific research, it is the easiest of its kind to understand and administer. It can be mastered in half a day with no challenging learning curve. At Force for Change, we use it for:

-

Why is DISC important for your organisation?
DISC does not measure intelligence, personal values or skills. DISC measures observable common traits in behaviour, and focuses on the styles and preferences of such behaviour.
Upon completion of our training your employees will be able to better understanding the challenges of communicating with their own style to different styles; whether they are outgoing or reserved, or more focussed on working on completing tasks or on building relationships. DISC will foster harmony within your organisation, focussing on the outcome while setting aside personal difference. You will discover that your employees feel more motivated and thereby will improve team performance and interaction with other teams in different areas of the organisation. Our training courses will increase their awareness of emotional intelligence.
Because DISC is also applicable in their home environment, it will help them resolve conflict and improve communication at home too. The more relaxed at home, the more resourced your employees will be returning to work. Give your employees the gift of attending DISC training to start understanding people in minutes instead of months.
